Report on the Workshop Conducted by the Skill Workshop Committee and Health and Awareness Committee

On the 19th of June 2025, various workshops were organized for students of XII science.

The Skill Workshop Committee in collaboration with the Health and Awareness Committee organized an enriching workshop on Electronics, conducted by Ms. Vilma Fernandes. The session was designed to introduce students to basic electronic components and their applications, fostering practical skills and awareness in the field.

Ms. Vilma Fernandes began the workshop with a detailed introduction to fundamental electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, and diodes, explaining their functions and importance in circuits. She elaborated on the role of diodes in rectification circuits, highlighting how they convert AC to DC, and discussed their practical significance.

The session further explored logic gates, their types, and their applications in digital electronics. Ms. Fernandes demonstrated how to construct truth tables to understand the working of various gates, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical understanding.

A significant highlight of the workshop was the hands-on practical session, where students worked with breadboards to build simple circuits using the components discussed. This practical experience allowed students to apply their knowledge, test circuits, and gain confidence in handling electronic hardware.

The workshop proved to be highly interactive and informative, sparking curiosity and enhancing the students’ technical skills in the basics of electronics. The committees look forward to organizing more such sessions to continue developing students’ skill sets and awareness.

Another creative and skill-enhancing Fabric Painting Workshop, was conducted by Ms. Divvya Bandhakar and Ms. Pradnya Parob. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the art of fabric painting and equip them with practical skills to create beautiful designs on cloth.

The session began with an introduction to fabric paints, their types, and their various uses. The resource persons explained the importance of selecting suitable cloth materials for fabric painting to ensure durability and quality of the final artwork.Participants were then guided through the application process, including techniques for transferring designs, mixing colours, and using brushes effectively to achieve the desired results.

A highlight of the workshop was the hands-on experience, where students actively participated in creating their own fabric designs under the guidance of Ms. Bandhakar and Ms. Parob. This practical session boosted the participants’ confidence and sparked creativity, allowing them to experiment and express their ideas freely.

The workshop was well-received and provided students with an opportunity to explore their artistic talents while learning a valuable skill.

On the very same day a comprehensive workshop on the Fundamentals of Basic Electronics, aimed at equipping students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in electronics.

In the first part of the session, students were introduced to essential electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, and transformers. The resource person explained the structure, function, and applications of each component, followed by demonstrations to help students understand their working in real circuits.

The workshop also provided students with hands-on experience in soldering, giving them practical exposure to connecting and assembling electronic components on circuit boards safely and effectively.

The session further covered the concept of logic gates, their types, and their role in digital circuits. Students learned how logic gates form the backbone of modern electronics and digital systems.

Another highlight of the session was the explanation and demonstration of the working of induction motors, helping students understand the principles behind this vital electrical machine and its industrial applications.

Finally, the workshop concluded with a practical introduction to basic types of circuits, where students applied their knowledge to build simple working circuits, reinforcing the theoretical concepts discussed.

The interactive and hands-on approach of the session made it highly engaging and informative, building students’ confidence and interest in the field of electronics.

A workshop on Photography and Reel Making was conducted by Jayant Panvelkar and Nilesh Keni , which was designed to introduce students to these evolving and highly relevant creative skills.

The session began with an introduction to photography and reel making, highlighting their growing importance in the modern digital age and the opportunities they offer as both a hobby and a profession.

Participants were made aware of various equipment used in photography apart from the camera itself. The resource person explained the use of accessories such as diffusers for softening light, grips for steady camera handling, viewfinders for precise framing, and the role of image sensors in capturing high-quality images.

Different types of cameras were discussed, with a special focus on full-frame cameras, their advantages, and their extensive use in wedding photography and other professional shoots. The session also touched upon the post-production process, emphasizing how editing and finishing techniques enhance the final output of photographs and reels.

Students were encouraged to pursue photography as a hobby, with guidance on following the fundamental principles of photography, including composition, lighting, perspective, and storytelling through images and reels.

The workshop successfully provided participants with an overview of the technical and creative aspects of photography and reel making, sparking enthusiasm to explore and develop these skills further.

The committee looks forward to organizing more such sessions to continue developing students’ skill sets and awareness.


Report on Eye Screening Camp

Report on Eye Screening Camp The Skill Workshop and Health Awareness Committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, organized an Eye Screening Camp on 5th April 2025. The screening camp was sponsored by Lens and Spexs Opticals Pvt. Ltd. and services were offered free of charge to all staff members.

The camp began at 9:00 a.m. at the Xavetaria, where a team of expert optometrists conducted vision and refraction tests. The team included:

  • Optometrist: Ms. Aishwarya Malwankar
  • Salesperson:Mr. Pandurang Nagvekar
  • Marketing Representative:Mr. Aloysius Dias

The team was warmly received with a round of applause. The event’s compere, Ms. Helosia Alphonso, began the program by quoting a proverb, "The eyes are the windows to the soul," adding, "Eyes are certainly windows to our health." She highlighted the importance of the eyes as a vital organ, allowing us to appreciate the world around us, aiding in memory, communication, and focus.

Ms. Alphonso then invited the school’s Principal, Ms. Victoria D’Souza, to present a potted plant to Ms. Aishwarya Malwankar. The Vice Principal of the General Stream, Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandes, presented a plant to Mr. Pandurang Nagvekar, while PTA member Mr. Anthony gifted a plant to Mr. Aloysius Dias in appreciation of their contribution.

Following this, Principal Ms. Victoria D’Souza addressed the gathering, welcoming the team from Lens and Spex Opticals Pvt. Ltd. She expressed gratitude for their visit, noting that the camp would be of great benefit to the staff members. She also pointed out that previous health camps had revealed that some staff members neglect their health due to a lack of regular checkups.

Mr. Aloysius Dias shared his thoughts with the audience, acknowledging that, as educators, many of us tend to overlook our health due to time constraints. He emphasized the importance of caring for our eyes, one of the most crucial organs of the body, and encouraged everyone to make regular eye checkups a priority to ensure good eye health.

In total, 67 staff and PTA members participated in the eye screening camp, benefiting from the opportunity to have their eyes tested and learn about their eye health status


Talk on career guidance by the Bodhi Academy and Talk on Drug Abuse by NCB

On the 5th of October, 2024, workshops were held for students of XI and XII Arts and Commerce at the ark hall. The first session was held at 12:00 pm by the Bodhi Academy on career guidance and specializes in preparing students for competitive and entrance exams. Sh Kundand Lal Parganiha presented the session. The second session was held at 1:00 pm on the awareness of drug abuse by the narcotics control bureau under ministry of home affairs. Mr Mangesh Pednekar, inspector of the NCB hosted the presentation.


Career Guidance talk on “Opportunities in Hotel Management and hospitality industry”

On 28th September 2024, an informative talk on career guidance in ‘Hotel Management and hospitality industry’ was organized at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa for the students of XII Arts and XII Vocational T& T( Travel and Tourism) .

Speaker, Aleena Rane provided valuable insights to the students in the career of Hotel Management and hospitality industry. She made them aware of qualifications and training needed to pursue the same. She also highlighted the benefits of it , such as travel opportunities , competitive salary, professional growth and development.

Emphasis was also laid on the importance of hardwork, dedication and continuous learning in achieving success in the Hotel Management and hospitality industry.

Students found the talk engaging , informative and inspiring.


Report of Career Guidance Program by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India

On 28th September 2024 an informative talk on Career Guidance Program was organized at St Xavier's High Secondary School, Mapusa for the students of XI and XII Commerce

Speaker Mr Dharamraj j. Bhosle along with his team Mr Vasant Kerkar provided valuable information on the importance Post as Company Secretary. He also highlighted the benefits of it. such as Travel opportunities, Competitive salary, professional growth and development.

Students found the talk imformative and inspiring. students also cleared their doubts by asking questions.


Report on Workshop: Career Opportunities in the field of Aviation and Hospitality

A workshop titled ‘Career Opportunities in the Field of Aviation and Hospitality’ was organized by the Workshop Committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School for the students of XI Commerce and XI Vocational Travel and Tourism on 14th September 2024 at 11:50 AM at the St. Joseph Vaz Auditorium.

The guest speaker for the workshop was Ms. Gloria Peters, a renowned Ground Manager for TUI Airways who has served as an Airport and Station Manager for several airlines. Ms. Janice Esperanza, who assisted in the presentation, represented Panache Academy alongside Ms. Peters.


Skill workshop on Pastry Making

The XI and XII Vocational B&C students participated in a workshop to acquire the skills to make choux pastry used in making eclairs and profiteroles. The resource persons were Mr. Rohan Mendes and Chef Ajinkya, a Michelin chef. A presentation on careers in hospitality followed the workshop.


Report of the workshop held On 28th August 2024

Workshop committee had organized Life skills workshop for the students of XI Arts A, B and C on 28th August 2024 from 9.00a.m to 1.30 p.m.

Following are the skills, students were trained In-

  1. Water colour painting conducted by
    Mr. Samir Naik, art teacher of Dada Vaidhya High school ,Curti-Ponda and 26 students participated in it.
  2. Découpage (Bottle Painting)
    Ms. Suzie vaz taught students to paint bottles, jars with acrylic colors and it was amazing. 34 students took part in it.
  3. Fabric painting
    Ms. Nidhi Falari showed students how to draw designs and do the shadings with fabric colors and almost 38 students participated in it.
  4. French Cuisine
    Ms. Elaine Da Costa taught students to make 3 types of French dishes namely Tarte Tatin , quiche, ratatouille. Students enjoyed it and in all 39 students participated in it.

Talk on Overseas Education by Edudvise International

A talk on overseas education by EduAdvise International was organised by the Workshop Committee on 24th August 2024 for the students of std XII Arts A, B, and C in St. Joseph Vaz Auditorium at 12 noon . The resource person for the same were Ms. Rayzel D'cruz and Ms. Sephra sequira Marketing Executive guided students about how to answer the exams like Toffel through Counselling sessions and Mock tests. They informed students about Scholarships and Education loan as well. It was very informative session and students benefitted the most.


Talk by Sunshine World College on B.Voc

A talk was organised for the students of XII Arts, Commerce and Vocational on the 17th of August, 2024.

The resource person was Mr. Deepak Khaitan who is the Founder and Director of Sunshine Worldwide School, and Sunshine worldwide college, Goa.

SWC is in the process of establishing the vocational branch in their institution and he informed the students about the possibilities of educating themselves there.


Report of the XI com A, B, C workshop held On 21 August 2024

Workshop committee had organized Life skills workshop for the. Students of XI com A, B and C on 21st August 2024.

Following are the skills, students were trained In-

  • Flower Making conducted by
    Ex. Students Ms. Reeha chaudhri and Ms. Suhana Balbatti and 32 students participated in it.
  • Découpage
    Ms. Suzie vaz taught students to paint bottles, jars with acrylic colors and it was amazing. 20 students took part in it.
  • Fabric painting
    Ms. Nidhi Falari showed students how to draw designs and do the shadings with fabric colors and almost 25 students participated in it.
  • Palm weaving-
    Ms. Sabina Da cunha from Bastora taught students this skill which is on the verge of extinction. Same were used as decorations for ttheGolden Jubilee event the next day. 33 students participated in it.
  • Goan sweet dish
    Ms. Elaine Da Costa taught students to make a goan sweet dish named GODSHEM. Students enjoyed it and in all 35 students participated in it.

Workshop on Cyber Safety

The extra curricular committee and workshop committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa organised Cyber Safety by Cyber Wellness Centre for students of Std XII Commerce on 27th July 2024 @ 12 p.m. in St Joseph Vaz Auditorium . The resource person for the workshop was Ms Nikita Goswami , the councillor and trainer at Cyber Wellness Centre.


Medical health check-up camp on 16th July 2024

St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School in collaboration with the Urban Health centre and District hospital ,Mapusa had organized a Medical health check-up camp on 16th July 2024 . It was held in the Xavetaria from 9.30 a.m.onwards.

In all 67 teaching , non teaching staff and PTA members availed of the Health Camp facility. Principal Madam Victoria De souza addressed the gathering.

We are thankful to the services of Medical Officer Dr. Shilpa Tople, Extension Educator Mrs. Aparna Karapurkar and their team for Eye, Dental, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, Pap smear, breast cancer screening chechups.


Skill up your life workshop for the students of XII Arts

Basic life skills were conducted by a workshop committee of St.Xavier’s higher secondary school, Mapusa. on 3rd July 2024 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the students of XII arts stream.

Students participate in the following workshop.

  • Fabric painting by Ms. Nidhi Falari (venue: classroom no. 105)
  • Canvas Painting by Mr. Daivik Ghandi and Mr. Nikhil Amadkar (venue: classroom no. 501)
  • Fresh flower bouquet making by Ms. Chhabi basuli (venue: xaveteria)
  • Personal grooming by Ms. Prachi zarapkar (venue: classroom no. 502)

Students enjoyed the session and we received a positive response from students.


Report of the workshop conducted for the XII commerce A, B, C on 10 th July 2024

On the 10th of July, various Skills Workshops were organised for the benefit of students of XII Commerce. workshop in 5 different skills.

  • Chocolate making by Dr. Annie Fernandes. 44 students participated in it.
  • Canvas painting was conducted by Mr. Daivik Ghadi and Mr. Nikhil Amadkar. In all, 28 students took part in it.
  • Candle making was taught by Ms. Ablin Fernandes. 38 students took advantage of the opportunity.
  • Kitchen Garden was organised by Mr. Jonathan Marques and Ryan Noronha . 30 students learnt the value of growing their own food.
  • Azulejos was conducted by Shankar Turi at Bicholim Industrial estate. 38 students participated in it. Ms. Nirmala Fernandes and Mr. Mahabal Bhat accompanied the students.

The resource persons for the various workshops were first acquainted with the Principal of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Madam Victoria de Souza, who expressed her sincerest gratitude to them for their willingness to allow students to benefit from their expertise. Engaging and informative sessions were the design of the day. It end sae joyous students revelling in the knowledge of the endless platforms to create impactful presentations, the magic that is upon connecting the right wire ends , a most exciting cheese pull, and the intricacies of fine dining.


Life Skills Workshops for XII Vocational

The workshop Committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa organising used life skill workshops for students of Std. XII Vocational on 11th July 2024. A total number of four workshops were scheduled to promote holistic growth among students. Eminent professionals and enthusiasts from diverse fields generously catered to the interest and inquisitiveness of keen students. The various workshops were as follows:

  • Texture on Canvas conducted by Ms Amita Porob
  • Hand Embroidery by Ms Sharin Arambolkar
  • Flower Making by Ms Shalini Dcunha
  • Brownie Making by Ms Lorraine Da costa

The resource persons for the various workshops were first acquainted with the Principal of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Madam Victoria de Souza, who expressed her sincerest gratitude to them for their willingness to allow students to benefit from their expertise. Engaging and informative sessions were the design of the day. “Skill Up Your Life” workshop for the students of XII Science

Informative and hands on experience workshops on different basic life skills were conducted by workshop committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa on 20th June 2024 for the students of Xii Science from 9:30am to 1:00pm.

The workshop aimed to equip students with basic life skills.
In total 275 students actively participated in the following workshops.
