Alliance University, Bangalore, conducted a career Guidance session for the students of XII Arts and XII Commerce on 13th October 2025 and for the students of XI Science and XII Science on 14th October 2025 in the St. Joseph Vaz Auditorium of St. Xavier’s H.S.S., Mapusa. The main goal of this session was to enable students to enroll for career options that are best suited for them.
The guest speaker was Dr. Sajan Matthew, Professor at Alliance School of Business. Dr. Matthew advised students to create a plan of action and follow it through. He guided students through an exercise to find their ‘Ikigai’ or ‘Reason for being’. He instructed students to enroll in universities that utilize a technology-based learning environment. He also instructed students to leave their ‘comfort zone’ and step into the ‘growth zone’ through hardwork and discipline. He suggested that students select jobs based on the World Economic Forum job report. Dr. Matthew counseled the students on the skills they must cultivate and on AQ-‘Adaptability Quotient’ and ‘SQ-Social Quotient’.

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, The National Museum of Natural History, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change organised the NUKKAD NATAK Competition on 30th July, 2025 on the Theme: One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution. (On line mode)

The Mapusa Municipal Council organized a Wall Painting Competition on 26th September 2025 at its premises under the theme “Swachhotsav 2025 - Swachhta Hi Seva 2025.” Students from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity through inspiring artwork.

The Diocesan Society of Education in collaboration with Diocesan Cathecatical centre (DCC) organized a Street Play and Reel making Competition on 16th August 2025 on the Theme of the Jubilee Year "HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT US" at St Pius X complex, Old Goa. The aim of the competition was to create awareness about social issues and encourage students to express themselves creatively.
The street play performance was filled with powerful dialogues, slogans, and impactful acting that captivated the audience. The reels submitted by students from various Higher secondary schools were played on the screen for the audience. Fr. Marcelin Rodrigues, Director of the DCC praised all the groups for their performances. The event was not only entertaining but also thought-provoking and inspiring for everyone present there. Finally, the Competition ended with vote of thanks. The prizes were declared and all the participants were given participation certificates. Smt. Abhilyabai Ramani Pratishtan organised an Annual All Goa Essay Competition 2025. The competition was held in three different categories namely school, higher secondary and college students’ level. The topic of the competition for Higher secondary students was, An Individual’s responsibility in reducing the carbon footprint. The rules and regulations were drawn limiting only two essays from each institute.
Four students submitted their essays out of which two were submitted ON 12TH August 2025 at The Kamakshi Education Society’s Higher Secondary School, Curti- Ponda. Students gave a vivid, detailed description of the topic.

Directorate of health services, Urban health centre Mapusa Goa organized a poster making competition for the students of higher secondary school on the occasion of “Indian Organ Donation “ awareness month of July 2035. The theme for the year was “ Nave Jivit New Life”. Our three students had participated for the same. Mr. Shiney pereira from Xi arts B, Ms. Abigale D’Souza from Xi arts B and Ms. Jewela Fernandes from Xii arts B. From a total of 5 prizes our students bagged the first 3. Ms. Jewela Fernandes won 1st place worth Rs.500/-, Mr.shiney pereira won 2nd place worth Rs.450/- and Ms. Abigale won 3rd place worth Rs.350/-.
Institute of Hotel Management, Porvorim, Goa, organised a cooking competition titled Goencho Swad on the occasion of World Tourism Day on the 23rd of September 2025. Two of our students participated in the competition from 11th Vocational (B&C) namely 1) Ms. Jennifer Fernandes and 2) Ms. Rashmi Bandodkar.
They prepared two Goan starters called Tender Coconut Chilli Fry in the vegetarian category and Rechad Prawn Spring Rolls in the Non Vegetarian category.

Kamakshi Culinary College, Verna, Goa organised a cooking competition for students in our own campus at St. Xavier's HSS, Mapusa, on 1st October 2025 in the Bakery & Confectionery Lab.
It was the preliminary round of the finals to follow in November '25 wherein students could prepare a dish at home and present in school. There were two categories of cooking. 1) Hot Kitchen and 2) Dessert Making.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, 27th September 2025. the Fundacao Oriente along with V.M Salgaonkar Institute of International Hospitality Education organised various events, skill based competitions, live demonstrations, interactive workshops. They covered towel art, bakery creations, cookies and Doughnut making, flavours in action, momo making, Dinning Etiquettes, bed making, mocktail making, napkin styling, floral arrangement and Kahoot quiz for students.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Museum of Christian Art, Old Goa in collaboration with Goa State Chapter of INTACH organised an Elocution competition in English on the topic: From Selfies to Sustainability: How Young Travellers can Make a Difference.
Two students: Ms. Kirti Marathe XI Arts A and Ms. Jilen Valanka Britto XI Arts C participated in the preliminary round held online through an unedited video which was sent via School email on 11th September 2025. After selection Ms. Kirti Marathe was selected for the finals held on 26th September 2025. As a token of appreciation a free ticket to visit the museum was offered to Ms. Jilen Valanka Britto accompained by one adult valid till 14th November 2025.

In a proud moment for St. Xavier’s H.S.S., Mapusa- Goa, Ms. Kelly Lobo from Std. 12 Commerce C, won the FIRST PLACE at the SPELL BEE Compétition organised by SS Dempo College (Autonomous), Cujira and The Navhind Times in the final round held on 22nd August 2025. Ms. Kelly has won the first place by competing against around 700 competitors and by clearing 3 elimination rounds.
A total of 14 students represented our Institution in the SpellBee Competition, from which 3 of our students namely; Ms. Kelly Lobo (XII Com. C) Ms. Saisha Faras (XII Arts C) and Mast. Pratik Kulkarni (XI Com. B) had qualified for the 2nd round.

The event spanned two days. Day One witnessed celebrations that included makhar making, canvas painting, modak making, mehendi, puja thali decorating, toran making, and cotton vastra making. Exquisite exhibits reflecting excellent craftsmanship and creativity adorned the school campus.
Day Two featured two inter-stream competitions, namely Ghumat Arti and Fugddi, in which the Arts Stream emerged as the overall winner.
In her address, Madam Victoria de Souza conveyed her warm wishes and congratulated the gathering on the joyous celebration. The celebration not only honoured tradition but also highlighted the school’s focus on nurturing talent, creativity, and community spirit among its students.
DM’s PVS.M Kushe Higher secondary school and Institute of vocational studies, Assagao oraganised an All Goa Inter-Higher secondary English Dramatic Monologue competition on 12th august 2025 .
According to the guidelines provided, only 1 student participant should represent their H.S.S. Extract chosen by the participant must be adapted from any Indian playwrights, authors or writers.
The participant may represent a character from literature, history or fiction. Monologue from movies and television was not allowed.
Miss Riya Kabi of Std XIIth Commerce B represented our H.S.S and emerged as the first prize winner of the Inter- H.S.S monologue competition. The student was awarded with a trophy and certificate. There were 8 participants from higher secondary schools across goa.
Ms. Ruhinaaz Jakati accompanied the student at the venue. The competition began at 8.30 am and concluded at 12.45 pm.
The Urban Health Centre, Mapusa had organized an inter-higher secondary poster making competition for the students of higher secondary schools (maximum three students per higher secondary school), within the jurisdiction of UPHC, to celebrate July 2025 as the Anti-Dengue Month; the theme of which was “Check, Clean, Cover – Steps to defeat Dengue”. The last date for submission of entries was 25th July, 2025.

On the occasion of revolutionary day, St.Xavier's HSS Mapusa participated in 'Patriotic song singing competition ' at Institute of Menezes Braganza, Panjim on 18/06/2025. The program started at 3:00 pm. Various HSS participated. From our HSS .Total 14 students participated. Eleven student singers and three musicians.
The session began with a formal welcome address by Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandes, Vice- Principal of the General stream of St. Xavier’s H.S.S., Mapusa, followed by the introduction of the Project Director and the Resource persons by the Coordinator Mr. Gopal Prabhu. To begin with, the Project Director Dr. Mahadev Gawas enlightened the students on different choices of subjects in different streams and the need to make those choices responsibly. The first resource person Mr. Laxmikant Pai Augle, a Research Engineer in the Cyber Security and Trust Division at Siemens shared his expertise, a vibrant mixture of computers and creativity in areas of embedded systems, computer networks and application of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity. The second speaker Ms. Yuga Venkatesh Ghotge, current pursuer of PhD at BITS Pilani K.K. Birla, Goa campus shared her scientific expertise in Bioprocess Technology and Microbiology techniques. The entire informative and interactive session concluded at 12:45 p.m. on a patriotic note with the singing of the National anthem. Ina gesture of gratitude, every higher secondary school was presented with two books on Career Compass. Finally, to add a sweet touch of the program, students and attendees were treated to a delightful box of snacks.

Total 08 students of St.Xavier’s HSS participated in the same for which they were awarded E-certificate.
The Goa State Samarth e- Governance Project Unit of Goa State Higher Education Council, Directorate of Higher Education Govt. of Goa organized a Career Counseling session on the 20th of June 2025 at St. Xavier’s Ark Hall for class XII students of ten Higher secondary schools across Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational Streams. Fifteen students from each H.S.S. along with one faculty member were present for the same. The aim was to empower students by offering them a unique platform to directly interact with accomplished professionals, experts and young achievers providing them with meaningful insights, guidance and motivation towards successful careers.
The session began with a formal welcome address by Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandes, Vice- Principal of the General stream of St. Xavier’s H.S.S., Mapusa, followed by the introduction of the Project Director and the Resource persons by the Coordinator Mr. Gopal Prabhu. To begin with, the Project Director Dr. Mahadev Gawas enlightened the students on different choices of subjects in different streams and the need to make those choices responsibly. The first resource person Mr. Laxmikant Pai Augle, a Research Engineer in the Cyber Security and Trust Division at Siemens shared his expertise, a vibrant mixture of computers and creativity in areas of embedded systems, computer networks and application of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity. The second speaker Ms. Yuga Venkatesh Ghotge, current pursuer of PhD at BITS Pilani K.K. Birla, Goa campus shared her scientific expertise in Bioprocess Technology and Microbiology techniques. The entire informative and interactive session concluded at 12:45 p.m. on a patriotic note with the singing of the National anthem. Ina gesture of gratitude, every higher secondary school was presented with two books on Career Compass. Finally, to add a sweet touch of the program, students and attendees were treated to a delightful box of snacks.
A team of twelve dynamic students of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa – Goa,emerged as the overall winners at the Inter - Higher Secondary event ‘FESTASOCIOLOGICA’, organised by the Department of Sociology, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa-Goa on 21st January 2025. The theme of the event was “Goa’s Cultural Mosaic – Continuity and Change”.

A culinary competition called Rockstar Chef organized by Kamaxi institute of culinary arts, was conducted by the Bakery dept of our school on the 20th of December, 24. The first round winners will move into the finale round to be held in Verna at the Culinary Institute.
The winners were Devansh Pednekar, XI com C and Pearl Fernandes, XI B and C.
Children’s Day at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fiesta on December 2, 2024. This day was marked to relive the memories of the past and the school campus buzzed with excitement and joy. The teachers came dressed in attire of their younger days filling the day with fun and frolic. The members of the Extra Curricular Committee put up food stalls with items ranging from cream cones, alle belle, puffed rice to cotton candies. These goodies of the yesteryears were relished by the students. Various games too were organized for the students of all streams which included Hopscotch, Sack-O-Relay, Tennikoit, Dog-and-the-bone, Tug-of-war etc. which were greatly enjoyed by the students.
This activity was coordinated and conducted by the Extra Curricular Committee of St. Xavier’s H.S.S, Mapusa.
The Commerce Club & BBA Forum of DCT’s S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, had organized a One-day State-Level, Inter-Higher Secondary event titled, Dempo Intellectopia, on 4th October, 2024. The students of St. Xavier’s H.S.S, Mapusa, participated in this event and won the 1st places in Photography, Debate and Extempore, a 2nd place in Reel-Making and 3rd places in Poster Creation and Ad-Mad Competition. St. Xavier’s H.S.S. was declared as the overall 2nd place winners of the event.

College of Physiotherapy, Naturopathy and Vedic Sciences, Sankhali had organized all Goa inter higher secondary school English Essay Writing competition on 27th September, 2024. Our institution had participated in the same and secured second place. The participant for the essay writing competition was Ms Sheryann Norohna from XI Arts B.
Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao had organized a one day Inter-Higher Secondary School Championship, Yukti-2024 on 7th October 2024; which was open only for students from the Science Stream. Nineteen higher secondary schools participated in the same.
St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Mapusa was declared as the second runners-up at the event and won a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- for the same. Our institution was represented by a dynamic team of 15 students as mentioned below:
PROJECT EXPOShannon Fernandes and Saba Natekar won the first place in the Project Expo for their project, “Step-Powered Vision”, which used ultrasonic sensors and buzzers on shoes and spectacles to detect obstacles, with piezo sensors powering the system through movement.
St Andrew HSS, Vasco had organized all Goa inter higher secondary school English Elocution competition on 21st September, 2024. Our institution had participated in the same and secured second place. The participant for the elocution competition was Master Kian Manuel from XI Science B.
The Goa State Council for Science and Technology, Saligao in collaboration with Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa had organized a Thematic Project Competition on 27th of September at the Goa Science Centre, Miramar for North Goa District.
Our students participated and bagged the 6th place and won a cash prize of Rs 1500/ for the project titled: Solar Panel Electrostatic Cleaner. The participants were Hubert D’Souza and Leroy Fernandes of 12th Science.
The Extra-curricular Committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School in collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation, Mapusa organized an Inter-Class Poster Making Competition on the 31st of August 2024. The competition was organised to commemorate the Indian Organ Donation Day which is observed on the 3rd of August every year. The theme of the competition was “Donate Organs, Save Lives” to mark the Golden Jubilee Year of our Institution.
Creative and artistic posters depicting the theme were prepared by 32 participants from all the four streams. The posters were judged by Ms. Marieta Gomes- former Chemistry teacher of our Institute, Mr. Yogesh Kauthankar- Art teacher from Smt. High School, Velguem and Mr. Shubham Chari- Art teacher from Pernem High School.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held at St. Joseph Vaz Auditorium in the Innovation Block of the Institute. The Principal, Mrs. Victoria de Souza addressed the gathering and highlighted the national and international aspects of the history of organ donation. The Chief Guest for the event was Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Bhat, former Biology teacher of the Institute. Mrs. Bhat highlighted the law of nature and its quality of giving life. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Amol Mahaldar- Co-ordinator for the Organ Donation Cell of IMA Goa, bursted myths surrounding organ donation. The Organ Donation Ambassador of MOHAN Foundation Mapusa, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, raised awareness on organ donation. The event proved to be a great success.

Goa commission for SC/ST had organized a Quiz competition on 9th of August at Institute Menezes
Braganza Hall on the topic “Bhagwan Birsa Munda: Life and Contribution to the Freedom Struggle and
Tribal Rights”.
All together 30 institutions participated and we secured the Third place and are
awarded with certificates, trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000/-. The following students were the

The Konkani students of standard 12th of St. Xavier's higher secondary school, Mapusa had the apportunity to withness the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Porvorim on 2nd August 2024. The Honorable Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant and MLA of Mapusa constituency Mr. Joshua De souza interected with the students after the session. Sixty students along with Miss Namrata Pednekar and Mr. Suryakumar Phadte participated in the same.
Thirteen students from our institution had the opportunity to visit the Ardee School, Sangolda to participate in the University Fair Session.
St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, emerged as the winner of the Archdiocesan Skit Competition, organised by the Diocesan Catechetical Centre, on the life of St. Francis Xavier in view of the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of the saint. One of our students, Mr. Soham Dabholkar, was also conferred the "Best Male Actor" award. A total of 14 higher secondary schools and colleges participated in the event.
In honour of world population day, an essay writing competition was held on the 9th of July at Goa science centre, Miramar for which 5 of our students participated.
The students arrived at the venue without any delays and the competition began without a hitch. Each student was handed a pen, paper and a writing pad, instructions were given and finally the topic was declared that is, Rising population- a Threat to the Environment
The students were given 45 minutes to write the essay (10 30 am- 11 15 am) . Soon after the essays were submitted, each student was handed a participation certificate and informed that the winners would receive a phone call in the following week and that the awards ceremony would be on the 16th of July 2024. All were handed a couple of snacks and a beverage before leaving the premises. The students arrived back at the school campus before 1pm.
From the students that represented the school, Selton Campos from XII commerce B bagged the first place and Ria kabi from XI Commerce B bagged the third place respectively
The students found the competition to be an interesting experience and are eager to take part in more.
Manovikas English Medium School, Fatorda, organized "Luminarium: An Orator's
Odyssey”, the Annual All Goa Inter – School Elocution Competition on the 19th of July, 2024. Miss
Sherryann Noronha from XI Arts C and Miss Riya Kabhi from XI Commerce B participated in the same.
Miss Riya Kabhi secured the Second Place in the competition. She was awarded a certificate and a
cash prize of Rs. 1500/-
Institute of Menezes Braganza organised “All Goa level Group patriotic song singing competition” on 18th June 2024 on the occasion of Goa Revolution Day.
A group of 15 students from science stream participated in this competition and won the First place. The students were awarded mementos, certificate & cash prize of Rs 5,000.
The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs observed the State Consumer Rights Day on 25th June, 2024 in collaboration with the Directorate of Food and Drug Administration, at the Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda.
Mr. Abhishek Sharma of Std. XII Commerce A and Mr. Soham Sandip Dabholkar of Std. XII Commerce B represented our higher secondary school at the quiz on ‘Consumer Awareness and the Citizen’ which was followed by talks by experts from the Directorate of Food and Drug Administration on the theme ‘Pure and Protected: Safe Food… Secure Future…
The students gained a lot of information on the Consumer Protection Act 2019 and on the practices of Food Safety and Hygiene.
