St. Xavier's HSS Celebrates 80th Independence Day 2026
On August 15, 2026, St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School celebrated our nation's Independence Day with immense patriotic fervour. The event was beautifully and collaboratively organized by the NSS, YRC, and Eco Club committees, taking place immediately following the morning mass.
The celebration was a perfect blend of patriotism, cultural pride, and social responsibility.
The morning commenced with a warm general welcome by our student comperes. The Chief Guest Ms. Wency Norohna and school management were ceremoniously escorted by the NCC cadets outside the Ark Hall for the proud hoisting of the National Flag, which was followed by a resonant and unified rendition of the National Anthem.
Our talented students showcased their love for the country through vibrant cultural items, putting on beautiful song and dance performances that captivated the audience.
The dignitaries were escorted to the dais, where the Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandes formally welcomed the gathering. Following a brief introduction of the Chief Guest Ms. Wency Norohna was done by Ms. Elaine da Costa and Prncipal Madam Victoria Dsouza welcomed the chief guest with a potted plant. The Chief Guest then delivered an inspiring address to the students and was presented with a token of our appreciation.
Nasha Mukt Pledge: A deeply significant moment of the day was the Nasha Mukt Pledge, earnestly led by Ms. Edrina, reinforcing our schools and our students' commitment to building a drug-free society.
Vote of Thanks: The formal proceedings were brought to a close with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Brenda.
