The Department of Mass Communication of St. Xavier’s College organised workshops on ‘Creative Communication - Advertising and PR’, ‘A Journey into Film Appreciation’ and ‘Storytelling through Photography and Videography’ on 13th September 2025 for the students of Std XII Arts from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa. A total of 121 students attended the workshops. The Resource Persons were Mr. Dinesh Nirawdekar for Advertising and PR, Ms. Vailarose Fernandes — Film Appreciation and Mr. Vibhav Naik for Videography and Photography, Assistant Professors, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, St. Xaviers College.
Mr. Dinesh briefed the students on Mass Communication and explained about the different types of advertisements such as, Outdoor, Covert, Transit and Surrogate Advertisements. He also focussed on Public Relations and its applications in order to build trust, recognition and credibility. The session concluded with an informative quiz on brands and logos.
The Workshop on Film Appreciation by Ms. Vailarose highlighted the art of Film Making, the technical elements of cinema, cinematography, production, design, editing, sound etc.
Mr. Vibhav focussed on the fundamentals of photography, basic photography concepts, its parts, types of cameras and modes of photography. The students appreciated the workshops as they were informative, interesting and inspiring.
