Report On Talk On Photography

A workshop on ‘Photography’ was organised for the students of standard XI  Science, Media, and Entertainment, on 30 January 2026 at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism. The workshop aimed to introduce the fundamental concept of framing and composition in photography and of capturing visually appealing photographs. The Resource Person was Mr. Vibhav Naik.

Mr. Anzil Fernandes provided the basic information about the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism. Mr. Vibhav began his session by sharing his experience in the field of photography. He spoke about how photography is not just about clicking pictures but about telling a story and experiencing emotions and capturing them.

The first major concept is Visual Composition. He explained the different types of shots used in photography by showing pictures and videos. The Rule of Thirds, the most important aspect in photography, was also explained. Mr. Vibhav then introduced the DSLR camera and demonstrated its basic features. He explained how to hold a camera correctly, focus properly and understand its basic settings. He also spoke about how lighting and camera adjustment movement can affect the final result of the image. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Miss. Riddhi Raikar.
