Report of the Talk on Tobacco Awareness

A talk on the topic “Tobacco and its Impact on Youth” was held on 19th July 2025, for the students of XI Arts A, B & C at St. Joseph Vaz Auditorium. The aim was to spread awareness of the dangers of tobacco, especially among youth.

The session was led by Ms. Nadia Dias, a psychologist at the District Tobacco Control Cell, North Goa District Hospital, and she was assisted by Mr. Deslan Pereira.

Ms. Dias explained that tobacco is used in two main ways, smoking and smokeless and stressed on the health effect of tobacco. Students were also given simple ways to stop tobacco use and were informed about the free tobacco cessation services offered by the District Tobacco Control Cell, located at the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa.

Ms. Nadia Dias concluded the session with an interactive Q&A, addressing several insightful queries from the audience. A pledge was taken by the students to never use tobacco in their life.
