Career Guidance Session on “Legal Awareness and Careers in Law”

St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, organised a career guidance session titled “Legal Awareness and Careers in Law” on 5th August 2026 for the students of Std. XI Commerce in the St. Jospeh Vaz Auditorim. The session began at 12:00 noon, with Adv. Sasha D’Souza as the resource person.
Kaiser D’Souza of XI Commerce C welcomed the gathering and introduced Adv. Sasha D’Souza who is an advocate, economist, author and former General Secretary of General Secretary of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School (2017-18), with an academic and professional background in Economics and Law and experience in conducting legal awareness programmes in schools across North Goa making her well suited to lead the session.
Following the introduction, Ankita Sahani and Aparna Pal of XI Commerce B presented a potted plant and a token of appreciation on behalf of the school to Adv. Sasha D’Souza as a gesture of gratitude.
The interactive session focused on the importance of legal awareness in everyday life and provided students with insights into careers in the field of law. Adv. D’Souza also highlighted the relevance of being aware of one's legal rights and responsibilities especially as minors in India though various fun and interactive activities. Drawing on her own academic and professional experiences, she gave the students a broader understanding of the legal profession, the opportunities it offers, and the skills and qualifications required to pursue a career in law. She also addressed the students’ queries and offered practical advice and encouragement to those interested in exploring law as a potential career option.
The session concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Subhagyalaxmi Nail of XI Commerce A and ended at 1:45 p.m. The career guidance session proved to be an informative and enriching experience for the students.
