St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, hosted its Annual Sports Meet 2025 on 22nd November at St. Xavier's Ground, Mapusa, under the theme “Green Games: Sprinting Towards a Sustainable Future.”
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Manager, Rev. Fr. Pedro da Gama, and was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Irwin Silvestre Cordo, Assistant Director at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with the Guests of Honour, Mr. Shane Temudo, Head Coach of the FC Goa Development Team, and Ms. Ramona D’Souza, Taluka Sports Organizer. The inauguration ceremony featured the release of seed-filled balloons, symbolizing environmental responsibility, followed by the unfurling of the school flag and the singing of the school anthem.
Principal Ms. Victoria De Souza presented the annual report, highlighting the institution's milestones and achievements. The programme featured an impressive march past and vibrant eco-themed drills, which saw students transform the field into a canvas of environmental advocacy, championing the conservation of oceans, forests, and natural resources.
Athletic competitions such as sprints, relay races, tug-of-war, and the Super School Relay saw enthusiastic participation from neighboring schools. During the felicitation ceremony, the Subroto Girls Football Team, State Champions and Goa’s representatives at the 64th Subroto Cup in New Delhi, were specially honoured. The third edition of Youth Synergy, the school magazine, and the student-led initiative R.I.S.E. (Rewarding & Inspiring Scholastic Excellence) were also launched.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired by both athletic excellence and the school’s commitment to a greener future.
