16/09/2025 - 18/09/2025 Swachhata Shapath Day (teacher In-charge Ms. Manjusha)

In view of the nationwide Swachchata Pakhwada initiative, the NSS/YRC /ECO Club committee of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa celebrated Swachchata Shapath Day on 16th September 2025, towards which day 1 started with Swachhata Shapath Day organized by teacher In-charge Ms. Manjusha, who administered the Oath and put up Poster on Notice Board.

During the morning assembly, All the students took the pledge to keep the surrounding clean thus contributing in little ways to achieve greater results. A poster depicting importance of cleanliness was also put up on the school notice board to spread the awareness. The event highlighted the importance of cleanliness, waste management and water conservation, emphasizing individual roles in achieving a cleaner India.

In the extensive classroom cleaning drive, students from all academic streams Science, Commerce, Arts, and Vocational actively participated in keeping their respective classrooms clean and tidy which was organized by teacher In-charge Ms. Nikita. To ensure fairness in the competition, a clear set of judging criteria was used to evaluate the cleanliness of each classroom. After evaluation of all participating classrooms based on the established criteria, the following result was determined: Winner: Class XI Commerce B was declared the "Cleanest Class for the Week," demonstrating exceptional adherence to all judging criteria.

Weeding out / Campus Cleaning (teacher In-charge Mr. Jason) As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada initiative, the NSS unit of the school organized a campus cleanliness activity which included 15 students from the XI class to clean/weed the surroundings and sweep around the campus. The concerned teacher instructed the students to clear all plastic items and remove any bits of trash from the campus and discard it efficiently explaining them the I’ll effects plastics to environment and health.

19/09/2025 - Green School Drive Day (teacher In-charge Ms. Manjusha)

Participants from different classes showcased their artistic skills by painting umbrellas, on the theme ‘Water Conservation’ transforming umbrellas into vibrant pieces of art that conveyed the importance of water conservation and protecting natural sources of water for future generations and also sensitizing the impact of water scarcity. 20 teams of 3 students each had participated in the same.

22/09/25 - 23/09/25 - Hand Wash Day (teacher In-charge Ms. Radha)

The NSS Unit of our organized a session on 'Hand Washing' on September 22, 2025. The program was designed to raise awareness about personal hygiene and demonstrate proper hand-washing techniques to students. This initiative aligns with the national goal of promoting cleanliness and sanitation for a healthier India.

The primary objectives of the activities were to educate students on the importance of hand hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases.

The NSS Unit's 'Hand Washing' session during Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 was an impactful event that promoted the values of cleanliness and health.

24/09/205 - 25/09/25 - Swachhata Participation Days Competitions

Wealth out of waste Incharge Ms. Radha - for Arts & Commerce stream.

The NSS Unit of our institution organized a competition on 'Wealth out of waste' on 24 September 2025 for students. The competition was designed to encourage participants in fostering creativity and innovation, promoting environmental conservation through recycling and reuse developing aesthetic and presentation and educating participants in waste management and sustainability. This initiative aligns with the national goal of promoting environmental sustainability and creativity. The primary objectives of the activity were to educate students on the importance of environment and promoting reduce, reuse and recycle (3Rs) principles, environmental conservation and the efficient use of resources.

Around 26 students participated in the same. Following were the winner’s 1st place was secured by Velanie Coelho & Sarah Dais from 12th Arts A, 2nd Second place was secured by Blissya Fernandes & Joanne Dcosta from 12th Com A, 3rd place was secured by Maisha Lobo 12th Arts C.

Digital Poster Making Incharge Ms. Nikita - For Science Stream.

The event required participants to use digital tools to design posters that effectively conveyed the message of cleanliness and sanitation. The theme for the competition was "Don't Wrap Your Future in Plastic" encouraging students to think about how individual and collective actions contribute to a cleaner environment especially for the students of Class XI and XII of the Science streams.

Winner: Class XII Science C (Samarth Kenavdekar) were declared winner demonstrating exceptional adherence to all judging criteria.

The Digital Poster Making Competition was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of creativity and responsibility among the students of Class XI and XII Science. This initiative helped not only in raising awareness but also in demonstrating how technology can be used as a powerful tool for social good.

T-shirt Painting Incharge Ms. Desiree - For Vocational Stream.

The Digital Poster Making Competition was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of creativity and responsibility among the students of Class XI and XII Science. This initiative helped not only in raising awareness but also in demonstrating how technology can be used as a powerful tool for social good.

As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative, the NSS Unit of the school organized a T-shirt painting competition for the students of the Vocational Stream on the theme “Cleanliness”. A total number of 15 students participated in the same. Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Date: 25th September 2025.

Following were the Winners:

  • First Place: Master Felix Rodrigues (XI VOC B&C)
  • Second Place: Miss Afroz Tapalvale (XII VOC T&T)
  • Third Place: Surekha Parmaz (XII VOC T&T) AND Isaiah Rodrigues (XII VOC MREEDA)

26/09/2025 - Personal Hygiene Day (teacher In-charge Ms. Desiree)

As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative, the NSS Unit of the school conducted an awareness talk on Personal Hygiene for the students of Std XII Vocational A&A. They were also shown a video on Personal Hygiene and were asked to make a poster on the same.

30/09 /2025 - Prize Distribution Day (teacher In-charge Mr. Jason)

The prizes for the various competitions held during the Swacchata Pakhwada week from 16th September 2025 to 25th September 2025 is as follows;

Umbrella painting, T-Shirt Painting, Wealth out of waste, Digital poster making and cleanest classroom organized by the NSS Committee of the school. The committee saw a great deal of students participating in the various competitions held and the total no. of winners for all the competitions stands at 31 towards which 31 prizes were allotted.
