Vidnyan Dhara 2026 Talk series

A talk titled “How Everyday Things Work – The Hidden Engineering Behind Daily Life” was conducted under the Vidnyan Dhara 2026 series, organised by the Goa State Higher Education Council, Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa. The session was delivered by Mr. Narayan Gauns and was held on 07 January 2026 at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa.

During the talk, Mr. Gauns explained how engineering is an integral part of our everyday life. He used simple and relatable examples such as a fan, helmet, football, and other daily-use objects to help students understand the basic engineering principles behind their design and functioning. The talk made complex concepts easy to grasp and generated curiosity among the students.

The speaker also guided students on how to begin their engineering journey. He emphasized the importance of joining relevant clubs such as robotics clubs, highlighted the growing significance of coding, and encouraged students to develop basic engineering-related skills at an early stage. His interaction motivated students to explore engineering beyond textbooks.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a science stream student, expressing gratitude to the speaker and the organizers for the informative and inspiring talk. The event was both educational and engaging, leaving a positive impact on the students.
